Kermit and Miss Piggy made a special appearance at CinemaCon a few days ago (April 24) in Las Vegas to make it official: expect a sequel to The Muppets, Disney has indeed greenlit a new Muppet movie! The first film made $158 million, it did more than recoup its production budget (estimated at $45 million). So one can understand why Disney is eager to develop The Muppets 2.
Take a look to the official teaser banner poster that was unveiled at CinemaCon:

Director James Bobin is returning to helm the project, and is co-writing the script with Nicholas Stoller, who co-wrote last year's movie. From what I heard Jason Segel won't return, he's quoted as saying that he wants to "concentrate on more human related projects". There's no official release date. I guess it will hit theaters sometime in 2014.
